Malinda joined LKI in June 2017.

Malinda Meegoda is a Research Associate at the Lakshman Kadirgamar Institute of International Relations and Strategic Studies (LKI), the think tank of Sri Lanka’s Foreign Ministry. Malinda is a graduate of the University of Saskatchewan’s International Cooperation and Conflict Studies program (Saskatoon, Canada).

Mr. Meegoda’s research interests include nuclear weapons, arms control, disarmament and Non-Proliferation. He has been invited to present on arms control and disarmament issues by organisations such as SIPRI (Stockholm International Peace Research Institute) and The Foundation for Strategic Research (FRS). In 2020, he was also invited to be a member of BASIC’s Emerging Voices Network (EVN) – a global network of high-potential, next-generation nuclear policy leaders.

His work has also been published by the Sri Lanka Air Force, The Institute for Defence Studies and Analyses (India), South Asian Voices, and the British American Security Information Council (BASIC).  He has also been a contributor to several Sri Lankan newspapers, and magazines such as ‘The Sunday Times, and the ‘Daily Financial Times’.

Before joining LKI, Malinda has worked with numerous organisations including the Centre for Poverty Analysis (CEPA), Oxfam Canada, the Saskatchewan Organization for Heritage Languages (SOHL), and GIZ-FLICT (Facilitating Initiatives for Social Cohesion & Transformation). He has also served on the Board of Directors at the Saskatchewan Council for International Cooperation (SCIC).
